First Human Use of Shockwave L6 Intravascular Lithotripsy Catheter in Severely Calcified Large Vessel Stenoses

چکیده

BackgroundIntravascular lithotripsy (IVL) modifies superficial and deep vascular calcium by delivering pulsatile sonic pressure energy that fractures in situ with the consequent enhancement of transmural vessel compliance, limitation fibroelastic recoil, optimization stent implantation. To date, use IVL as an adjunct to facilitate implantation has been limited large target size eccentricity distribution.MethodsThe Shockwave L6 balloon delivery system includes 6 emitters mounted on shaft a 30.0-mm long diameters ranging from 8.0 12.0 mm. The nominal is 4 atm. We describe first human this novel covered severely calcified stenoses involving distal abdominal aorta bilateral iliac arteries.ResultsFull expansion was achieved at low pressures (3 atm), despite severity calcification, subsequent safe effective implantation.ConclusionsThe seems expand application treatment vessels, such arteries.

Successful extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy in chronic calcified pancreatitis management.

A 33-year-old woman with a 3-year history of idiopathic CCP and recurrent attacks of acute pancreatitis was referred to our institution for PD stones management. Prior attempts of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) approach had failed. Plain abdominal X ray showed calcified stones in the pancreatic area (Fig. 1A). Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) demonstrate...

Impact of shockwave coupling on efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy.

PURPOSE To evaluate the impact of a slow gated treatment rate on the efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL). PATIENTS AND METHODS From August 1990 to July 2002, 40,462 SWL procedures were performed using the slow frequency electrocardiography (ECG)-gated lithotripter (82.5%) and fast frequency ECG-ungated (17.5%) modes for the Medstone STS lithotripter. Treatment characteristi...

Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy of Primary Intrahepatic Stones

Extracorporeal shockwave lithothripsy (ESWL) was performed in intrahepatic stone patients (n = 18) by Dornier MPL 9,000 with ultrasound guidance. The patients had T-tube (n = 9) or percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage tube (n = 9). Average treatment session was four and shock-wave numbers were in the range of 3,064 to 12,000 (average 6,288 shocks). Intrahepatic stones were removed complet...

Antibacterial Modification of Intravascular Catheter Surface for the Prevention of Catheter-Associated Infection

Objective: Intravascular catheter-associated infection has been increasing hospitalization in post-surgery patients mainly due to microbial colonization of the catheter surface and formation of a superficial biofilm layer. The present study is aimed in developing an effective antibacterial device which can prevent colonization of organisms by modification of catheter. Methods: In the present st...
